The Sympraxis Team held and supported on April 23, on behalf of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), a closed event in Athens with experts in the field of the environment and training. Issues such as ‘green’ development in Greece, waste management, as well as the prospects for new jobs in ‘green’ professions and labour were discussed. The issues discussed in this meeting, which was held in the framework of the case study “Reinforcing skills for ‘greener’ jobs”, also included the opportunities and challenges that can be created, the strategies that need to be followed, as well as the required skills for the switch to a ‘green’ economy. Special emphasis was given to the construction of infrastructure and waste management, while a detailed discussion was held on the role played by training, the market and the private sector in achieving the above.
