The 3-year Horizon 2020 iBRoad2EPC project, coordinated by Sympraxis, successfully concluded in August 2024. The project has developed a flexible and practical building Renovation Passport model, which aligns with existing schemes and recent EU energy policies.

Designed as a modular tool, and offering a ready-to-use framework, including software, training and surrounding policy recommendations in the form of e.g. roll-out action plans, incentives, and other, the iBRoad2EPC Renovation Passport allows adaptation to existing Energy Performance Certification schemes. Field studies in Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain confirmed that the iBRoad2EPC approach supports deep renovation in different country contexts. As such, the results of the iBRoad2EPC project are becoming increasingly useful to achieve a highly efficient and decarbonised building stock by 2050.

A BUILD UP interview with Marianna Papaglastra from Sympraxis summarises the approach and main benefits. Further details and information can be found in the iBRoad2EPC Layman’s report “Straightforward guidance for better buildings”.

Even before project completion, various public and private institutions have expressed interest in exploring how iBRoad2EPC can be incorporated into specific contexts. Authorities interested in integrating the iBRoad2EPC approach with their national energy performance certification schemes are encouraged to get in touch through contact [at] ibroad2epc [dot] eu.
