Volunteering is “in the nature” of PAPASTRATOS Company. The company actively promotes a volunteerism culture among its employees by coordinating volunteer actions, the organisation of which Sympraxis Team has the pleasure to support. We are particularly pleased with this mentality that urges us to operate as active citizens in the face of the issues we are dealing with as a society. On 18 September, on the occasion of the World CleanUp Day, PAPASTRATOS volunteer employees collected 595 kilos of recyclable waste from Aspropyrgos beach, which were sent for recycling. On 5 December, the company’s volunteer employees planted the first trees in the area of Agia Paraskevi in the Municipality of Dionysos, symbolically participating in the first large professional reforestation that will be realised in burned areas of Attica affected by the wildfires of August. Thanks to the company’s trust and financing, 70,000 trees will be planted, mainly in Afidnes, Drosopigi and Ippokratios Politia of the Municipality of Oropos within the next year. The trees will be taken care of with watering and fertilising for three years. The symbolic reforestation action was realised to commemorate the International Volunteer Day and the World Soil Day, and was attended by the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. George Amyras, the Director of the General Directorate of Forests & Forest Environment, Mr. Evangelos Goudoufas, the Mayor of Oropos, Mr. George Giasimakis, and the CEO of PAPASTRATOS, Mr. Christos Charpantidis. Sympraxis Team has already started the necessary procedures for the implementation of this important initiative, so that 1,000 acres of burned land become a forest again.
