The Urban Development Network, the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission organised a series of six webinars on 3, 9, 13, 17, 19, 25 November 2020 on “Six building blocks to sustainable urban development”. The webinars were based on the Handbook of Sustainable Urban Development Strategies, which were published by the Joint Research Centre in collaboration with DG REGIO and covered the 6 key elements of the EU integrated approach to urban development: strategy, territorial focus, governance, cross-sectoral integration, funding, financial management and monitoring. Representatives of policy makers and expert guest speakers presented ways and strategies to address the main challenges in designing and implementing sustainable urban development strategies. Sympraxis Team undertook the technical support of the webinars’ organisation, as well as the training of the speakers and coordinators in the use of the digital platform.
