A one-day seminar titled “Social Benefits and Rights in Practice” was held on 12 February 2016 at the Elefsis Municipal Cultural Center, in the framework of the “Cores of Knowledge” social programme of the Children Support Centre of Elefsis.The seminar was attended by residents of Thriasio Pedio and aimed to inform them on a) the role of the Greek Ombudsman in relation to defending citizen rights, as well as the agency’s competencies and actions concerning vulnerable groups, and b) the main social benefits offered to citizens in the context of the Municipality of Elefsis’ competencies and actions, such as psychological and social support and intervention, welfare allowances, financial inability booklets for uninsured citizens and social protection certificates. Giorgos Moschos and Artemis Kalavanou were the key note guests from the Greek Ombudsman. Sympraxis Team collaborates with the Children Support Center on the project’s management and communication. The project is funded through the ”We are all Citizens” programme, which is part of the overall ΕΕΑ Financial Mechanism for Greece, with the Bodossakis Foundation as grant manager.
