The National Wildlife Observer Network, an initiative of the Association for the Protection and Welfare of Wildlife, ΑΝΙΜΑ, initiated the operation of www.paratiro.gr, an electronic platform for the connection and recording of information provided by citizens, concerning cases of dead or injured animals in Greece. Currently, the platform comprises the only organised, country-wide effort on the implementation of ‘Citizen Science’ on issues of terrestrial biodiversity. The Sympraxis Team designed and submitted the proposal, on behalf of ANIMA, and subsequently developed the electronic platform and methodology for the utilisation of smartphones in that context. In addition, it designed and produced the project’s communication material (poster, banner, newsletter, etc.). The project is funded by the overall programme of the EEA Financial Mechanism for Greece “We are all Citizens”; the Programme’s Grant Administrator is the Bodossakis Foundation.
