oPEN LAB is a 20-million € project funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Under the coordination of VITO, and with the Project Management Office under Sympraxis Team, 33 partners from 7 countries are collaborating to revitalise urban areas across Europe, leading the transition to Positive Energy Neighbourhoods (PEN) through open innovation actions in three living labs in the cities of Genk (BE), Pamplona (ES) and Tartu (EE). The project is officially launched on 20 October in Genk, with simultaneous events in Tartu and Pamplona. oPEN Lab is a unique collaboration aligned with the Open Innovation quadruple helix model where industry, government, academia and civil participants work together to co-create and drive structural changes.
