December 2024 marked the end of the first year of the “Fair Play” programme, an initiative of Henkel Hellas and Dixan designed and implemented by Sympraxis. The programme highlighted the power of sports, with an emphasis on football, as a means of promoting the principles of fair play, boosting self-confidence and cultivating social inclusion for children. Through 11 actions implemented in football academies, summer camps and tournaments, the “Fair Play” programme offered 526 children, 426 parents and 45 coaches the opportunity to be trained in values such as cooperation, empathy and acceptance, while it is estimated that more than 7,000 people in total were informed about the programme. Participants enjoyed a combination of sporting activities and educational experiences, aimed at creating a safe environment where the joy of playing and participation becomes more important than winning. At the same time, with seminars and experiential activities, the programme raised parents’ and coaches’ awareness of their own role in preventing bullying, strengthening their understanding of children’s needs and feelings. “Fair Play” proved that football can be more than just a sport; it can be the path to building trusting relationships, promoting cooperation and highlighting the values of respect and joy through playing.
