On Thursday 12 September 2024, the Municipality of Athens, along with organisations and citizens, committed to co-shaping the future of a climate-neutral Athens by signing the Climate Pact. This event was a milestone in the city’s commitment to achieve climate neutrality by 2030, through the cooperation of institutional bodies, university institutions, organisations and citizens. More than 90 people and 54 organisations participated in the co-signing of the Pact.  The Climate Pact of the Municipality of Athens was elaborated through processes of participatory planning and constructive dialogue, Climate Forums and Climate Youth Assemblies, constituting a modern tool of social justice with a human-centered character. Its goal is a green, clean, sustainable, resilient and beautiful Athens, for the benefit of the citizens, the environment, social cohesion and social justice in the neighbourhoods, through politically addressing energy poverty. The event was the starting point of the coordinated action as the implementation of the Climate Pact will contribute to the transition to a green, sustainable and circular economy, to the creation of new jobs and to the promotion of the quality of life in Athens. The Municipality of Athens, organisations and citizens, joined forces to shape the present and future of a climate-neutral Athens.  Sympraxis undertook all the communication activities of the project and the overall coordination of the event, on behalf of the Municipality.
