On May 21-22, during the Knowledge Hub Poster and Pitch Sessions at the C4E Forum 2025 hosted in Cavtat, Croatia, Alexander Deliyannis from Sympraxis jointly presented the PEDvolution and oPEN Lab projects’ “Multi-Level Innovation in Positive Energy Neighbourhoods and Districts”. The presentation highlighted how Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) and Positive Energy Neighbourhoods (PENs) can contribute to Europe’s clean energy transition through the development and integration of interoperable, digital, and scalable solutions. oPEN Lab’s part focused on technically and socially innovative activities already undertaken in the context of the oPEN Living Lab of Tartu, Estonia, including local policy dialogue, Renovation as a Service (RaaS), a heat storage facility and the testing of prefabricated façade panels. PEDvolution’s part focused on the Slovenian co-demonstrator in Kranj where the project’s solutions will be co-developed and applied. A key element was PEDvolution’s Open Call for PED demonstrators, which invited entities across Europe to pilot the project’s tools and approaches. Now closed, the call sparked active interest among stakeholders at the forum, reflecting the relevance of PEDvolution’s vision and objectives. Overall, discussions underpinned the value of cross-project collaboration, experimentation, and open innovation in accelerating the deployment of Positive Energy Districts and Neighbourhoods across Europe.
