PIRAEUS MAKERSPACE – CIRCULAR ECONOMY SOLUTIONS IN PRACTICE

Piraeus Makerspace, the first fully equipped circular economy workshop of the Municipality of Piraeus, started its operation in March 2025 with a series of educational and training activities, as well as with the supporting of innovative business ideas that contribute to the circular transformation of the local economy.  Piraeus Makerspace is housed in the historic building of SKYP (School of Textile Knitting) in Kaminia and is aimed at all those who wish to create or redesign products in a sustainable way, mainly through the reuse of materials. The workshop is an important education and information place focusing on how users and visitors can contribute to the effort of circular economy implementation. It includes traditional materials processing tools, such as wood, but also a series of modern machinery, such as digital laser cutters, digital CNC router cutters, 3D printers, electronic & embroidery sewing machines, arduino. The duration of the “Implementation of Workshops and Communication Activities at the Piraeus Makerspace” project is two (2) years. The project is implemented by Sympraxis on behalf of the Municipality of Piraeus and is part of the “Natural Environment and Climate Neutrality 2024” Green Fund Financial Programme.
