Republic MED, which aims to strengthen the methodologies for the calculation of buildings energy efficiency, implements pilot applications on buildings and open spaces in all participating Mediterranean countries (Greece, France, Spain, Italy and Croatia). The application of the program is expected to result in proposals for the energy-related upgrade of buildings, as well as the leveling of the urban heat island phenomenon in the Mediterranean metropolitan areas.
